TNB BPM Consulting, LLC is owned and operated by Dr. Theodore (Ted) Bibbes. Dr. Bibbes provides Business Process Management (BPM), LEAN Implementation, Project Management, and Strategic Planning consulting services.
BPM:
Business Process Management is more than just improving processes. It is a holistic look at an organization’s processes and how they are maintained and managed. It takes into account the interactions that occur between other processes, as well as the people who are responsible for completing the tasks required. Improving processes is just one phase of BPM. For an organization to truly sustain the improvements, the proper measures and management of the improvements must be implemented. TNB BPM Consulting identifies the process owners, and works to give them the tools and knowledge needed to monitor and manage their process(es), and to make corrections or bestow praises when appropriate.
LEAN Implementation:
Lean Manufacturing, also known as the Toyota Production System, identifies wasteful efforts in a process. Through team problem solving improvement events, new process flows are identified and implemented. TNB BPM Consulting applies proven change management techniques to help teams identify and improve processes by eliminating waste and streamlining efforts.
Project Management:
The Project Management Institute (PMI) defines a “Project” as a “temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result,” and “Project Management” as “the application of knowledge, skills, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements.” * TNB BPM Consulting provides focused project management services by utilizing PMI, change management, and proven communication methodologies.
Process Improvement Workshops and Presentations:
Organizations do not always have the bandwidth or need for full improvement projects, but most can still benefit from educating their employees. TNB BPM Consulting provides process improvement training opportunities through on-site presentations. Presentations vary from full day workshops to short, topic targeted lunch-and-learn sessions. Topics range from process improvement tools, concepts, and practices, to process management techniques, to complete LEAN training seminars. All sessions are tailored to the organizations needs and constraints.
Strategic Planning:
Like all efforts, planning for the future success of the organization is a process. A well-developed strategy and implementation plan requires focus and dedication. TNB BPM Consulting provides a proven process focused on developing the next phase of an organization’s success by working with you to identify and develop a path forward to achieve success.
* 2013 Project Management Institute. A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge - Fifth Edition
TNB BPM Consulting uses a simple hands-on approach by engaging the organization’s leadership, the process owners, participants, and stakeholders. We typically use a phased approach to projects.
Phase 1-Problem Definition: During this initial phase, my goal is to learn about the organization. This is accomplished through one-on-one meetings and discussions with Executive, Senior Stakeholder, and Process Owners. Proven research and data collection tools and methods are also used to gain insight from employees and other key stakeholders from inside and outside the organization.
Phase 2: Current State Analysis: During phase 2, we continue to develop our understanding of the organization by focusing on the top processes. This is achieved by creating maps of the current processes, and features direct, detailed observations of the activities required to perform the operational steps.
Phase 3: Future State Development and Implementation: During phase 3, we work directly with process participants in order to identify a desired future state and implementation plans. The goal is to create new processes with as little of the non-value-added, wasted efforts from the old process, while maintaining or enhancing the efficiency and value-added efforts. This is attained by process participants through hands on improvement sessions focused on a specific process.
I received my Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Georgia State University in 2013. My doctoral work focused on the interconnection of project management and knowledge creation. Through this lens, I view the project manager as the focal point through which project team information is contextualized and directed to team members and therefore drives the knowledge creation process resulting in project success.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I directed the process improvement program for the Governor's Office of Customer Service in Georgia. The program provided Lean Implementations to state agency customer-facing processes. An essential part of this work was the training of agency personnel in project management and process improvement techniques so they continue and expand their customer service improvement efforts.
My Philosophy:
I believe “Everything is a Process,” and by focusing on processes, we can effectively drive positive change in any business. By managing the process, versus managing the person, we create an atmosphere of trust between the front-line and middle and top management based on agreed facts and measures.
Success is achieved through a balanced focus on fiscal, operational and customer needs while consistently encouraging and empowering employees through employee-led teams.
Clear, concise writing is an important part of any endeavor, regardless of the audience. TNB BPM Consulting strives to bring top quality communications to the forefront of any effort.
